VACATION RENTAL FEATURES IN TOWNHOUSE PROPERTY:
- This magnificent three-story home promises to make any stay in Paris extraordinary. The house is itself beyond comparison. Masterfully decorated, it bows in homage to elegant living, past and present. Centered upon a garden/court yard and cloistered behind high walls, it is also a very private place. To stay in this hôtel particulier for a vacation is to offer yourself an experience of a lifetime.
- The court yard has been converted into a garden with many trees and flowering plants. From there, access to the house is at multiple points: through the veranda, the kitchen and also through the breakfast room. The veranda is entirely enclosed by glass. Here is an ideal place for enjoying a meal or relaxing in the sun. Being water-tight and heated, the veranda is also practical at any time of the year.
- The south wing of the house on the ground floor consists of a large and full equipped kitchen, a cozy breakfast room and the entrance hall. The entrance hall communicates with the veranda and the dining room as well. An elevator and a staircase (with a magnificent wrought iron railing, époque Louis XV) provide access to the upper floors of the house. The white washed, stone walls of this staircase are hung with a wonderful collection of paintings, drawings and collages, representing works from the Baroque period to contemporary art of the last decade.
-The dining room is simple and very elegant: the candle lit chandelier overhead (not electric); the low, timbered ceiling; the old buffet in sculpted, painted wood displaying French porcelains; the painted portraits and the lovely still life over the side board; the huge stone fire place with its antique hearth utensils; the terra cotta floor; and of course the table which is large enough to seat eight guests.
-Two sets of curtained double doors open onto the veranda and provide natural light. At the same time, discreet electric lighting takes nothing away from the venerable feel of this dining room. A doorway and a few steps lead down into the fumoir, or smoking room. The paneled walls of this small room are sculpted and adorned with architectural études. Low couches, piled with cushions, invite you to relax.
- Adjoining the fumoir is the solarium bedroom. This bright and airy space is covered by a glass ceiling (white panels of cloth act as blinds). Here you will a king size bed with night stands and reading lamps. You will also a flat screen cableTV. The wallsare hung with artwork that demonstrate the owners taste and his remarkable ability to combine older, classical styles of the twentieth century and contemporary works.
- The first floor up is , as mentioned, accessible by the stairway and elevator. This floor is occupied by a one bedroom suite and the study. The suite consists of a king size bed, a dressing area and an enormous bathroom with W.C. The walls are dressed not with wall papers, but with subtly patterned fabrics of a soft, taupe color. The art work (contemporary and eighteenth century) is quite impressive and, as always, fits perfectly into the setting. The dressing area is well organized with ample space for arranging your clothes. The bath room is lovely in brown-beige marble.
- On the second floor up is another large bedroom and a smaller one. The former of these two is somewhat informal in comparison to the other suites. Of course it is just as comfortable and well appointed. Here though, the ceiling is high and vaulted. Skylights open up above and three windows give on to the garden. The suite consists of a bedroom area, dressing room, and a full bathroom. There is also a large study is this suite.
-The second suite, albeit smaller, is ravishing. A grand half-canopied bed graces the center of this room. The beautiful wall fabrics and drapes are delicately colored and are perfect accents for the 19th century artwork. There is also a dressing room and a full bathroom.
- If you were to take the elevator down to the lowest level of the house, you would find another smaller, yet ravishing bedroom suite, where there are two twin beds. There is also the pool room and the laundry room on this floor. The pool is 7 meters by 3.5 meters. It is heated and, if you wish to excercize, powerful jets of water will allow you to swim in place. The pool room its self is very warm so as to avoid any discomfort upon getting out of the water. Adjacent to the pool is a relaxation area with a shower. If you find yourself in need of a refreshment, a spiral staircase in one corner leads up to the kitchen.
