Since then the buildings have been well preserved, and as you walk its narrow streets you can see that the island is pleasantly untainted and retains an usual architectural purity.

The Ile Saint-Louis, eastern neighbor to the Ile de la Cité, is located right in the middle of Paris on the Seine River. This peaceful island is a treasure in the center of this busy and exciting metropolitan. It has the feeling of a small village with its charming tea houses, “Berthillon” ice cream, gourmet shops, cafés, bistros, and restaurants. It also includes all the necessary amenities such as a pharmacy, grocery store, bakery, newsstand, post office and more. After only a few days you’ll start to feel familiar with the neighborhood and right at home.

The great paradox of the island is that while it remains a private and peaceful place to live, it is located directly in the heart of the city. Many of the most interesting and well known sites such as the Louvre, the Jardin des Tuileries, the Pompidou Center, the Latin Quarter, the Rue de Rivoli, Sainte-Chapelle, Notre Dame Cathedral, and more can be reached on foot. Particularly of interest is the Marais neighborhood on the right bank which is famed for its interesting shops, narrow streets, and Jewish eateries. This or the Latin Quarter of the left bank make for very pleasant strolls on a nice day.

THE APARTMENT

• Entering into the courtyard through the enormous original green wooden doors of this “Hôtel Particulier,” you will be transported back to the 17th century. To the right you’ll find the truly exceptional grand staircase leading to your apartment on the first floor, with its wooden banister, wrought-iron detailing and its black and white stone tiling.

• From the moment you open the secure front door, the recently renovated AMARYLLIS apartment immediately transports and immerses you in the magnificent charm of 17th century bourgeois apartments. All the features typical of these character apartments are present: Open-plan living areas, large double-glazed French windows and balconies, 4.60-meter high ceilings, moldings, exposed wooden beams, Chevron parquet flooring, wood paneling, trumeaux, gilded mercury mirrors and marble fireplaces.

• The apartment offers a total floor area of 130m2 and the living areas are connected by a large reception room, a large dining room and a fully-equipped American-style kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
  All the large French windows in the living room, dining room and bedrooms are high-performance double-glazed units, with generous natural light and a northern exposure (very fashionable in the 17th century). The small balconies with sculpted iron “Garde-corps” at each window host magnificent paintings that open onto the spectacle of the Seine and its tree-lined quays.
  All the windows have interior folding shutters to make each room perfectly dark at night (including the bedrooms).

• The large living room of this luxury property vacation rental is certainly the main room of the apartment, dedicated to conviviality and relaxation. The decoration is a skillful blend of respect for the historic character of the property and a modern touch with contemporary and vintage furniture to create a warm, comfortable atmosphere.
  Opposite the functional white marble fireplace, topped by a large gilded mirror, a large contemporary sofa, armchairs, chairs and a coffee table create the perfect setting for a relaxing evening or entertaining moments. In a large cupboard near the fireplace is the flat-screen TV, connected to the cable network and offering all the international channels ( CNN, BBC, RAI1,ZDF and French channels).

• Between the two large windows in the light-filled living room stands an impressive 18th century console table, carved in wood and gilded with gold leaf, with a black marble top on which candlesticks are placed. This console is again topped by a large gilded wooden mirror to reflect the light.
  A small table and two chairs create an office area where you can check your e-mails on your laptop, plan your future daily Parisian discoveries, or enjoy a meal in front of the TV.

• Several mood lamps are also present in the room to complete the elegant, warm atmosphere.

• Off the living room is the dining room and kitchen, a large room dedicated to conviviality and indulgence.
  Once again, overlooking the Seine, you’ll find a large table that can seat up to six people, for lunch with family or friends, or a candlelit dinner.
  A modern, fully equipped kitchen with marble worktop is available for preparing breakfasts, lunches, dinners and suppers: electric oven, 4 gas burners, extractor fan, fridge, freezer, microwave, electric kettle, coffee machine, Nespresso, toaster and dishwasher. In the numerous cupboards, you will find all the crockery, dishes, cutlery, glassware and utensils you need to prepare your meals.
  The lighting can be dimmed if desired.

• Continuing from the dining room, a door leads to the Master bedroom, with a large window and blackout curtains (for the night) to take full advantage of the view of the wooded quays right from the moment you wake up.

  This room features a King size bed (180cm), bedside lamps on either side of the bed, and a storage closet for your personal belongings.
