Location

0.Ile-st-louis-paris As you enter the hall through the large original blue wooden doors of this “Hôtel Particulier”, you will be transported back to the 19th century. A magnificent period mosaic decoration covers the floor. To the left of the staircase, a neo-classical bronze sculpture of a woman holds a candelabra to illuminate your arrival. Ascend the staircase with its wooden banister, wrought iron detailing and waxed wooden treads trimmed with a blue carpet to your flat on the 2nd floor.

The Ile Saint-Louis, eastern neighbor to the Ile de la Cité, is located right in the middle of Paris on the Seine River. This peaceful island is a treasure in the center of this busy and exciting metropolitan. It has the feeling of a small village with its charming tea houses, “Berthillon” ice cream, gourmet shops, cafés, bistros, and restaurants. It also includes all the necessary amenities such as a pharmacy, grocery store, bakery, newsstand, post office and more. After only a few days you’ll start to feel familiar with the neighborhood and right at home.

The great paradox of the island is that while it remains a private and peaceful place to live, it is located directly in the heart of the city. Many of the most interesting and well known sites such as the Louvre, the Jardin des Tuileries, the Pompidou Center, the Latin Quarter, the Rue de Rivoli, Sainte-Chapelle, Notre Dame Cathedral, and more can be reached on foot. Particularly of interest is the Marais neighborhood on the right bank which is famed for its interesting shops, narrow streets, and Jewish eateries. This or the Latin Quarter of the left bank make for very pleasant strolls on a nice day.

IRIS vacation rental property, is located near the western tip of the island and offers splendid views of the Seine River, on the Pont Marie and the tree-lined quays.
You are also right around the corner from the famed Brasserie de L’Ile Saint-Louis from whose terrace you can enjoy the magnificent view of Notre-Dame while savoring a cone of Berthillon ice cream.

THE APARTMENT

  • As soon as you open the secure front door, the recently renovated IRIS flat transports you into the extraordinary charm of Second Empire bourgeois flats. Open-plan living areas, large double-glazed French windows and balconies, 4.60 metre high ceilings, mouldings, Chevron parquet flooring, gilded mercury mirrors and marble fireplaces: you’ll find a number of features typical of the architecture and furnishings of the finest flats of the period. Particular attention has been paid to the furniture, tapestries, wallpaper and works of art displayed here and there in this designer flat. Among the many antique curiosities to be found, magnificent functional cast-iron radiators decorated with floral motifs decorate every room, providing the warmth you need to keep you cosy in winter.
  • A soft velvet curtain welcomes you into this cocoon, leaving behind you the distant memory of the hustle and bustle of the city. Beneath your feet: a remarkable gleaming parquet floor; and along the corridor to your left: a delightful alley of partially glazed white alcoves, where you can dream of the living spaces you can barely guess. Push the golden handle on the door facing you, and you’re plunged into a flat with character, comfortable and evocative of Parisian life of yesteryear.
  • The apartment has a total surface area of 94m2 and is made up of welcoming living rooms of distinct sizes and moods. The living spaces are linked by a series of white doors, each inviting you to discover a new bubble of comfort. All the large French windows in the kitchen, living room, dining room and bedrooms are high-performance double-glazed units, with generous natural light and south exposure. A long balconnet with sculpted iron railings links the windows of the main rooms, offering a romantic view over the Seine and its tree-lined quays. All the windows are fitted with folding internal shutters, so that each room is perfectly dark at night (including the bedrooms).
  • The kitchen is on your right as you stand in the entrance hall. As you push open the door, you’re greeted by a space that’s as traditional as it is functional. The walls and cupboards are a soft green with hints of yesteryear, creating a retro atmosphere worthy of our grandfathers’ stoves. The floor is covered in an authentic chequered pattern of alternating ivory and brick-red tiles. And at the end of the room is a large window and balcony for maximum natural ventilation.
  • The room has a marble worktop to your left, a copper sink and tap, 4 induction hobs and an electric oven to your right. In the numerous cupboards, you’ll find all the crockery, dishes, cutlery, glassware and utensils you need to prepare your feasts. A fridge, freezer, extractor fan, microwave, electric kettle, Nespresso coffee machine, toaster and dishwasher are all part of this charming kitchen.
  • Return to the hallway and go through the white semi-glazed door that leads to the living room. You enter the large living room, and find an elegant dining room to the right. The two living areas are both separated and linked by an original period opening, with rounded contours and refined mouldings. The four large French windows provide essential light to these luxurious living rooms, as well as a striking postcard of Paris in love.
  • To the right, the elegant dining room invites you to spend a convivial moment with friends and family. An oval marble table invites you to share a dinner for up to 6 people, or serve the first coffee of the day. Beside it, a period fireplace, carved in resplendent beige marble, sits majestically. Above it, a sumptuous antique mirror illuminates the room with its golden reflections. On the walls on either side of the fireplace are two tapestries with Japanese-style birds and flowers. Other pieces of furniture and design objects, both antique and modern, are tastefully arranged to dress up the room or provide a moment of relaxation. On the ceiling, admire the fine white mouldings, a sophisticated ornament that abounds in Parisian private mansions.
  • Returning to the living room, you will find the flat’s main room. This vast boudoir is decorated in a blend of old and new, in keeping with the historic character of the property. Opposite the large windows overlooking the river, a generous, soft white sofa with modern contours invites you to relax or take it easy. A matching designer footstool creates a warm and cosy atmosphere. In the centre, part of the parquet floor is hidden beneath a floral rug with a softly woven pattern. Two designer coffee tables with vintage curves display the documentation you’ll need for your stay, along with a bouquet of flowers and a welcome candle. On the window wall, a small smooth wooden bookcase supports a small flat-screen TV connected to the cable network and offering all the international channels (CNN, BBC, RAI1, ZDF and French channels).
  • Continuing your tour, you come to the first bedroom, which has A King size bed (convertible on twin beds). The vintage floral wallpaper matches the wood-panelled architecture of the superb study area. Here you can check your emails or plan future visits to the City of Light. There are several mood lamps in the room to add to its warm, elegant atmosphere. Through three doors, you can access the beautifully decorated toilet via the corridor on the left, and the master bedroom via the door opposite you.
  • The large bedroom is at the far end, with its wall covered in a tapestry evoking the gardens of oriental palaces. A Queen-size bed (160 cm) stands in the centre, opposite a splendid white marble fireplace. A bourgeois chest of drawers is available to store your clothes. As for lighting, an exquisite crystal chandelier is set amidst distinguished floral mouldings. For your privacy, small lamps and candelabras around the room add a diffused atmosphere. The large window is fitted with blackout curtains (for the night).
  • Adjacent to the bedroom is a beautifully appointed bathroom with antique lion’s foot bath, elegant mosaic floor, large walk-in shower, twin washbasins, mirror, washing machine, tumble dryer, towel warmer and hairdryer.
  • WIFI internet with unlimited Free connection is provided.
  • Sleeping capacity: 2 to 4 Guests.
